Do I need a formal diagnosis to work with you?

What if I'm not sure if I'm neurodivergent?

How do your sessions work?

No. I work with both self-identified and ‘formally’ diagnosed neurodivergent adults. Self-identification is valid, and we can explore your experiences and needs regardless of diagnostic status or origin of your knowledge. If you're questioning whether you might be neurodivergent, that's also a valid starting point for our work together.

That's completely fine. Many people come to therapy during their journey of self-discovery. If you're questioning or exploring your neurodivergent identity, we can work together to understand your experiences and how they align with neurodivergent perspectives. There's no pressure to have everything figured out before we begin.

Sessions are 60 minutes long, online via Zoom, where you can have your session from the comfort of your chosen private space. Some clients like to have the same day and time each week for their sessions while other people like to book themselves into my calendar as they want.

To access the session you would click the Zoom link that has been sent to you in the confirmation email and I will be there to meet you.

I would hope that you would find me kind and calm and open to meeting you. I’m warm, natural, and friendly when we meet. As a therapist, I’m engaged and interactive - not silent or passive - although I do listen very well and take a lot of care picking up areas of importance. We work collaboratively at your pace, focusing on your concerns and pursuing what matters to you.

How often should we meet?

What's the "discovery call" about?

What makes your approach different?

This is entirely flexible and based on your needs, preferences, and circumstances. Some clients prefer weekly sessions, others fortnightly or monthly. You can either have a regular slot or use a booking link to schedule sessions when it works best for you. We can discuss what frequency or booking approach would be most beneficial for your situation.

Once you decide that you do want therapy, but you are not sure whether you want that to be with me, the discovery call is a good way of assessing that. This free 15-minute video call is a chance for us to meet briefly and see if working together feels right. It's not an assessment or interview - it's simply an opportunity for you to experience how I communicate and work, ask any questions you have, and sense whether you feel safe with me. There's no pressure to make an immediate decision after this call.

My therapy is fundamentally neurodiversity-affirming with everything that goes along with that including socially and politically. I understand neurodivergent experiences both professionally and personally. We work together to understand and embrace your natural ways of being, while developing insights for living authentically, peacefully, meaningfully, and in ways that bring fulfilment.

How do I know if I'm ready for therapy or coaching?

What if I've had unsuccessful therapy experiences before?

What kinds of issues can we work on?

There's no universal level of readiness. If you're considering therapy, that's enough of a starting point. We can begin wherever you are and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Your journey is unique, and we'll honour that.

Many neurodivergent people have had therapy experiences that weren't helpful because the therapist, though well-meaning, didn't understand neurodivergent perspectives. I specifically work with neurodivergent adults and understand how traditional therapy approaches might have missed the mark. We can discuss your previous experiences and ensure our work together takes a different, more appropriate approach.

We can work on any issues that matter to you, including:

  • Addressing current stresses or situations that need resolving

  • Understanding yourself through a neurodivergent lens

  • Processing the whole-self relevance of finally piecing everything together

  • Navigating relationships and work environments

  • Working through anxiety, depression, stress, or trauma

  • Developing strategies for life challenges

  • Exploring choices and evaluating best options

  • Building a great relationship with yourself

  • Making decisions about disclosure

  • Improving quality of life in ways that matter to you

Can you help me decide whether to pursue a formal diagnosis?

Do you offer help with practical life challenges?

What's your approach to trauma?

If that is something that you’re interested in thinking about, yes. We can explore the potential benefits and drawbacks of formal diagnosis in your specific situations and context of your life (as well as highlight any risks to be aware of and how to mitigate or manage them). I can help you understand where to go to pursue an assessment if you decide that you want to, as well as what's involved in the diagnostic process. You may never want to have an assessment and that is also a very valid outcome. I will support you in making an informed decision that's right for you.

Absolutely. While we can explore deeper emotional and identity issues, I also help clients develop practical strategies for managing daily life challenges, career decisions, relationships, and other concrete aspects of living as a neurodivergent person.

I understand that trauma can manifest differently in neurodivergent people and that also many late-identified adults carry trauma from navigating a neuronormative world without understanding why things were so challenging, painful or absuive. Moreover, traumatic life-events may have happened to you and there are ways of processing trauma can be understood and integrated. My approach is trauma-informed and recognises these experiences.

Are you qualified to work as a therapist?

How do I get started having sessions?

What happens if I need to cancel a session?

Yes. I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist, with academic and vocational qualifications in Psychotherapy, Counselling, Coaching, Autism, ADHD, different models of therapy, and in training other therapists.

Please send me an email using this contact form and let me know that you are interested. I will reply and we can take the next step if you would like to. Normally we can begin within a few days or a week if you want to. Very occasionally i don’t have spaces currently and may reply asking whether you would like to approach a small selection of my trusted colleagues, and enclose their contact details so that you can do that if you want to.

I have a 48-hour cancellation policy for managing my schedule effectively. You can email me or also use the calendar software to change your session days and times.
